I want something as inexpensive as possible

ARRL handbook
You can find it at most good book stores or they can order it for you. You can also order it from the ARRL web site.
It has good description of general electronic theory including projects.
It is a good place to start and is a great reference.

I checked out the Sony version but I couldn’t bring myself to spend the money. I thought Cnet had a decent review though.

I’m thinking about getting an ebook reader (Sony PRS/Kindle/whatever). This would mostly be to have a concenient format for journal papers, so I don’t have to lug them about in A4.

How does an ebook reader handle the formating of PDF’s (journal pdf’s are usually formated for a page size larger than the reader). Is it a definite “second best”.

Does anyone have any advice (from “forget it, stick to paper” to “make sure you by the geekbook 1.3″)?

I have an Amazon Kindle and I’ve put a few pdf’s on it. I’d say the results were mixed at best. Because the pdf pages have very fixed formatting (headers, footers, page numbers, page width) and the Kindle doesn’t follow the same formatting, those elements tend to get in the way more often than not. It’s kind of distracting. I’d say it’s better than carrying around the paper copies, but not by a lot.

Hope that helps.

Where to buy E-Book Reader in Bangalore, India.
I am really in need of it.
Any chinese made models available, how to get it ?
Pls help!

I’m not familiar with your place, but for any product i don’t find available at my area, the best choice would be ordering online, if somehow you can’t, decide what brand your buying and find it’s outlet and ask, most of the time they can order it for you even if it’s not sold there ..
