is there only a certain type of led light you can buy that is for the kindle, or are your able to buy any other led light that you can buy in a book store like borders or barns and noble?

One thing that is ( …
One thing that is (apparently) ignored by reviewers… SEARCH! The biggest drawback of treebooks is that even with the best index, it’s almost impossible to find a specific passage by ’searching’ for a word or phrase. Electronic search is the BIGGEST argument for ebooks…. but apparently (since it’s not mentioned) the Kindle doesn’t have a ’search’ function on books installed in its memory. Curious the issue is ignored….

    EXCELLENT REVIEW! …
EXCELLENT REVIEW! OCD attention to detail and depth. Thanks for the Colbert book purchase demo. This should be the gold standard for product reviews ie- just show it in use, very objective. I have Ebooks on my iPhone but eye fatigue occurs with the small, bright screen.

    You can carry …
You can carry hundreds of books in it and download new books in 1-2minutes direct to the kindle ANYWHERE that a cell phone works because it has EVDO built in. There are no contracts or fees… connectivity is in the price of the device. I can forsee more features being added to the kindle as the next gen comes out. This thing is a dedicated ebook reader, NOT a palmtop computer that doubles as an ebook reader, however, I can easily see full web browsing coming. I wish we had this in Europe.

    ?? Good technology …
?? Good technology but how ugly can a [NEW!] electronic device be? Design faults on a cheap apple copy. But I’m looking forward to the second version. One more thing:
    EXPLAIN the price!! 400$?
Maybe for the designers’s work??? –hell no
or for the testings?? — don’t think there were some
then for the name invention? — :) you must be kindling
the technology? — come on, e-ink isn’t that new..

You people need to learn some respect.

I don’t understand why Amazon didnt take into account the button problem. The leather cover is not a solution and I see that most of users take it away maybe because it is easier to use the kindle.
