electronic reader

I used to have this electronic object on the sims 2 it was a pregnancy reader thing, it was orange coloured and it showed how many babies ur having and how far along u are. If anyone has this object or knows the name it and knows where to download it please tell me. Thanks

I was thinking it was the Insimenator too, but the object that allows you to do all those things in the Insimenator is a microwave oven, not an ‘orange thing’. The only ‘orange thing’ I can think of is the biological clock that comes with the Inteenimater. http://www.simbology.com/mods/index.php?dir=inteen/inteenimater/&sort=date&order=desc

If so, what reader program do you use and what type of device do you read on (PC, PDA, Amazon Kindle)?
Give me your 2cents on what you think about electronic media!

I downloaded a couple of books and uploaded them to my Pocket PC. I really liked being able to read in bed again; my Pocket PC has a back light that doesn’t wake anyone up.

It was also easier to eat and read; you only need one hand to both hold the device and push the page advance button. The problem, though, with Pocket PCs and PDAs is that the screen is small and the software resizes the page to fit the screen. So, four hundred page books suddenly become 4,000 page books.

So forget Pocket PCs and PDAs.

What lured me to the dedicated ebook readers was being able to store several books into one device. It really sucks carrying a stack of books on a weekend getaway when, really, you’re probably only going to read one or two.

I also like how some of them automatically download newspapers before you wake up. I really don’t like getting the newpaper now that I live in an apartment because taking it out to the trash everyday is a nuisance.

Have you ever seen the devices like the Sony readers and the Kindle in person? The e-ink is really, really cool. When I saw one of these readers display an ebook page for the first time, I thought I was looking at a demonstration model with a fake, paper screen.

I can’t afford a proper ebook reader so I went back to regular books. If I were you, I’d definitely get an e-ink model. Either that or wait until they figure out how to put a decent one in a cell phone/mp3 player.

One con I can think of: not every book is available for download. You might be purchasing books from more than one company, companies with ebook formats that may or may not be compatible with your own hardware.

Also, in a few years they will be much, much cheaper and they will have even better features.

I’m still leaning towards getting one. I just started moving into a new house and carrying all my books over is a real pain. I’ve gone digital with everything else and have learned to despise the sight of CDs and DVDs. They really take up way too much physical space.

This technology has really never taken off, I feel like the the people who bought into Beta-Max instead of VHS.
Everytime I have pictures on my Fujifilm camera I can never find anyone with a compatible reader device to export them to.

yes xD really hasn't taken off like SD has. My recommendation?
Buy a small xD / usb reader and carry it along with you.

Will bookstore chains go the way of Tower Records and other music stores? Lets hope not! I noticed that there is a new invention by Sony which readers can download books, magazines and some newspapapers. The downloads cost as much as $10. While this Sony reader become the ipod of books? In my opinion I thinkg people will still like paper books. Books don't need electricity. Books can be taken anywhere such as airplanes, camping trips, the train and etc. Sonys electronic reader needs batteries and eats them fast.

I have often wondered the same thing. Will it mean the demise of books? Have you ever read Ray Bradbury's "Farenheit 451"? He toys with the whole idea. I, for one shall never lose the desire to hold a book and the feel of the paper, the act of turning the pages, the progress through the story toward the denouement, the finale. There is something about the feel of the pages in hand. I will never give up my magazines. They are little capsules of monthly delight which comes in the mail every month or two. I don't like paying for them, but I surely do love getting them. Call me old fashioned. I vote we keep books and magazines and put all junk mail on mp3 readers. How about you?

for childcare registration during services “to keep our children safe”. Although I have only been attending this church for a couple of months, I am not aware of any (attempted) kidnappings.

Could this actually be just “for safety’s sake” or part of some diabolical government plot? WTF?
I mean the parents of the children in day care are being fingerprinted to "check" thier own children in .

read revelations , mark of the beast,
I’d get out of that church but QUICK

Has reader installed any electro-magnetic pulse protection
on personal property that generates an electrical field?
Have read that 2 air burst nuclear weapons over width of
USA would generate EMP sufficient to make anything that
projects an electrical fiels inoperable. Also read that lead
was a protective metal. So, how much lead plate do I need to house my home electronics and private vehicle engine ? Assume the military has universial standards for hardening equipment regarding EMP so is information unclassified?

You don't need lead. Lead is nice for radiation, but it would be an expensive Faraday or EMP shield.

Any conductive material (aluminum foil, chicken wire, copper mesh, etc) will protect your electronics if it surrounds them and is properly grounded (connected to earth). It would also keep your radio/ cell phone from operating, so the utility is rather dubious.

For example, with a Malaysian passport can it be used into to pass through the UK immigration using its electronic passport reader?

No, with Malaysian Biometric passport you cannot pass trough an automatic reader. A malaysian is subject to border control anyway. That means you will be ended up on a desk where a human will be asking you several questions before letting you in.

Only British citizens (will be) passing through in fore-see-able future, or anyone who holds the prospective British ID card. May be it will be extended to EU citizens but I haven't heard about it.
