I installed Mobipocket reader in py blackberry, and when I tried to upload a book, it froze, U then tried to reboot, but now it has that loading sign all the time, and it won't let me format it from the pc, or remove Mobipocket from the Desktop Manager, any advice?
It's a blackberry bold
I am unable to edit its software in any way.
Remove the battery and reinstall it, that should restart it.

I don't know if they all are characters that are main characters…they have different people on alot of the books. I think you are maybe supposed to guess who is who if you want. None of them are the same people that are in the movie, either, so I don't know whats up with that…lol
I love my nokia 6682. It (without the internet, from the SD card) play movies, mp3s an NES emulator, an SNES emulator, a GBA emulator, a word processor, an excel function, several kama sutras, bibles, quorans, a book reader (mobipocket) and for the most part was free (with a contract). Help me find another phone. I was lookin at the tilt, and the wing. both free, insurable, and flexable, I think. How flexible is the windows operating system when compared to symbian
Windows is very flexible and it is very easy to port a PC Windows application to mobile. Like viruses for example
I want lots of different sources, my mother just got one of those Bookeen portable ebook reader things. She was thrilled until we realised how difficult it would be to find books she wanted.
The biggest problem is formats, thanks to DRM’s @rse-raping limitations on what you do with YOUR property after you’ve PAID FOR IT, makes it very difficult and the codes, and programs and procedures required to actually get a book once you’ve paid for it is too much for the technically illiterate and I have to be with my Mum every time she wants to get a book so I can help her.
I’ve been directed to the Gutenberg collection because it is public domain and large, and unfettered formats with no bullsh!t like the others but the problem is this is for my Mum and she really only reads the one type of book most of the time which is somewhat trashy romance novels. Getting access to these means having to go through commercial websites with restricted content and so far it seems of the DRM afflicted variety of formats the only one we’ve been able to get to work is the mobipocket format.
The search gets harder because when looking for ‘chicklit’ novels which is the name of her particularly favoured form of romance fiction is unheard on U.S. websites which make up pretty much ALL the websites I’ve been able to find and the romance section of them don’t really have what we want because my Mum can’t really get into American romance novels since they are quite distinctly American and don’t really travel.
So, after that long-winded prologue, I need websites with mobipocket formats or preferably one of the old school ones with no DRM like .txt or .html, preferably not American or if it is American than with a VERY large romance section to choose from. Also, do you guys know any websites selling ebooks that let you know what format you’re downloading in BEFORE you pay for it because we’ve been screwed on this many times over now and had to ask for refunds because it’s a lucky dip situation what format you’ll get. Also, does anyone know how to remove DRM protection on any of the current popular formats? I have a few tricks up my sleeve for video but ebooks are something I haven’t looked into much and I can’t really seem to find any circumvention software or many torrents of books either.
I buy all me eBooks from Fictionwise. They do list the formats they are sold in. And they do list if it is a ‘secured’ eBook (ie. DRM). Even when buying a secure eBook it will warn you that they cannot refund/exchange for another format. They have several eBooks in ‘multiformat’ (non-DRM) as well.
I don’t know about the ‘romance’ section. I mostly buy Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels.
HTH.
hi
is there any software in the market that would work with your printer that once you scan, the content would be converted straight away to an editable microsoft word document?
I would like to convert all my books that are turning old and yellow to word document so that i can use the mobipocket creator to further convert them to a format compatible with my palm.
Hi Keith
There is this free OCR software called Free OCR. I downloaded it and tried it. Amazing !!!!!!
I asked it to convert some old jpeg text file to MS-Word. Guess wwhat ? It took about 5 seconds to convert the document and opening word and present it to me for editing.
when I download an ebook from www.mobipocket.com, the file i downloaded saves as a .prc file after saving I cannot open it on my computer. Can I only open it on my mobile and would it harm it in anyways? ty
a PRC file is for Palm Pilots. Your palm pilot can read that (or an ebook program on your palm pilot can).
I've uploaded acroreader for palm os (latest version) When I right click the ebook i want to put on my palm i get an error " you can't upload copyrighted material" I'm also an Author, and I need to know how to turn my ms word 2000 file into a mobipocket PRC file; how do I do this?
hmm..hard to say..have u convert the files?coz u need the acroreader for palm on ur pc…the files have to go trough the reader then to ur palm..its like "docs to go"…even if u have the reader inside ur palm i guess u still can view it unless u convert it inside the reader…gudluck..
My axim is broke, not worth fixing. Yet I really depend on a pda for the alarms, contacts mobipocket reader etc. Affordability is more important to me than the cpu speed, or wifi; does anyone know of a decent windows pda that doesn't cost an arm, and a leg?
PS i've tried palm before (the os is shakey at best)
Good day!
In my experience the sturdiest Windows Mobile PDA -EVER- is the HP HX4700 (also called the 4705). The strongest metal case known to man. I'm stroking mine now. Mmmmmmmm….. Anyway – HP stopped making them a while back – so look on eBay and you might find a bargain. Failing that – the Acer N311 is the next best thing – and BOY are they cheap. Both have VGA (640×480) screens – so they're ULTRA readable. Good luck!
