In less than a week the display stopped working. The unit had not had been dropped, hit, or damaged in any way. I bought a Cybook Gen3 from Booken.

Booken declined to repair or replace the unit under warranty stating, “the warranty does not cover broken parts”.

They offered a repair for 100 Euros plus shipping. I suspect this is about their cost for a new unit.
