Every time I go to a library book sale people are always typing something in on their phones and pulling certain books or scanning the barcode with some sort of reader. what are they doing and no they arent the employee's of the library or sale.
Also i tried asking the people but they wont tell me.
It will be interesting if the Volunteer Groups will begin banning such devices that may even be tapping into Library Wi-Fi zones to send internet queries once the device scans an external printed ISBN off the back of a book cover or paperback bound cover. You're right that the users of such devices get defensive and even verbally abusive if you ask them what they are doing because in no uncertain way they are "poaching" where regular book sale patrons do not get outside cues as to which used books to bring back to those who are interested in the used materials. Probably there is a certain kind of thieving going on.
