Diverse group of ebook readers makes variety of e-books available for purchase.
Since an ebook is a file that needs to be viewed its important to know what format it comes in and what program it can be opened with. E-book files are viewable through specialized programs called e-book readers. There are a few formats that an ebook could come in. It could come in plain text and thus be viewed in Microsoft word or a notepad program.
Computers that operate on Windows will open that file automatically with the best matched program at hand. Some files come in a format of HTML and require a browser or a browser enhanced version of Microsoft Word for Windows. These files are usually compact and very user friendly. The last but not least and probably the favorite format of all is a PDF by Adobe. PDF files can be viewed on Adobe Reader, Microsoft Reader, or any other ebook reader available. These files are small, easily accessible and can be readily transferred, emailed, shared or printed.
E-book readers are available to download online or could be bought at a software store. Microsoft Reader only operates on the Windows based machines, whereas Adobe Reader can be installed on both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. Separate readers are available for PDA’s. Today Adobe sets standards for ebook industry since it’s a most widely known and used program available. Its compatibility with existent systems is greatly appreciated by users making PDF files the standard for today’s e-books.
