There seem to be three on the UK market, and I am tempted to buy one. Can anyone with personal experience tell me how they find using these gizmo’s? avondrow. Your sub-laptop maybe portable, but what is the battery life? As for the PDA, surely the screen is too small for prolonged reading?
Response
I agree with caring carer. I have a Sony, and I love it. It’s very easy to download public domain books. Depending on the type of file, you can enlarge the font on the screen. The internal memory is about 200MB, which is plenty of space for nearly anything you want to read. I too have yet to figure out the downloading music, or audio books, part.
OOOh i want an answer to this question too, sorry.

I use my PDA and my sub-laptop. I can't see the point of a dedicated ebook reader when these devices work fine already. The Sony ready has a nice clear screen, but it's massive – it takes the whole point away – you need something that will fit in your pocket.

I got the Sony Reader from Waterstones as a birthday gift and LOVE it. I can take it with me wherever I go as it fits in my small bag. I am ploughing my way through the classics from the CD that came with it and reading books I would never look at before. I have also downloaded a couple from the Waterstones site.
It easy to read and operate. Has 2 memory slots for extra storage and you can listen to music on it but haven't worked that bit out yet!
